Marino Colleoni's 3 hectares of vines have slowly taken shape since he bought the azienda in 1995 (he and his wife are originally from Bergamo). Having uncovered an old planting of Sangiovese they started to replant these vineyards in 1998 and made their first wine from the harvest in 2000. Though it is only minutes from the hectic centre of Montalcino, the Colleoni's vines have the impression of being totally secluded with their superb vista over the valley below.

More recently Marino has taken over a further 3 hectares of Sangiovese in Orcia. He finds the 'poor', well drained soil here much more interesting than the relatively heavy and rich soils in Montalcino. The results from these lesser-known vineyards are taut and fascinating examples of Sangiovese. We are looking forward to trying the wines from these vineyards in the coming years!
